Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) was established on October 03, 1887 by Jonathan C. Gibbs. It became a university in 1953. The official colors are green and orange. Their mascot is a rattlesnake named The Rattler, which symbolizes the resilience inside of FAMU students
